Privacy Notice
Last updated: 16 October 2026
This notice explains what personal information paint-myroom.com collects when you use this website, ask for a quote or book work with us, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. We keep it as short and as plain as we can while still telling you everything that matters.
Who we are
paint-myroom.com is the trading name of Fresh Start Property Services (Leic) Ltd, company registration number 16360331, VAT number GB 496621064, registered in Leicester, Leicestershire, United Kingdom.
We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice. That means we decide why and how it is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.
Information we collect
When you request a quote or book work, we collect:
- your name, email address, phone number and the address or postcode of the property;
- details of the work you would like carried out, including rooms, sizes, finishes and colours;
- any photographs you choose to upload of the rooms or the finished work;
- your booking, scheduling and payment preferences, and your communication history with us;
- reviews and feedback you leave for us.
We also record limited technical information automatically when you browse the site. See the sections below on analytics and on security and abuse monitoring.
Cookies, local storage and analytics
We use your browser's session storage to keep a random, anonymous session identifier so that one visitor browsing several pages is counted once rather than many times. It contains no personal information, expires automatically when you close the tab, and is not used to advertise to you.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (which pages are popular, how people find us) and the Meta Pixel to measure the performance of our advertising. Both set their own cookies and are governed by Google's and Meta's respective privacy policies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will continue to work normally.
Security and abuse monitoring
Like most public websites, ours is regularly visited by automated software: search engine crawlers that index the site, and sometimes scrapers or other bots. To protect the site, keep it working quickly for real customers, and understand who is accessing it, we record limited information about the requests that reach our servers.
For each such request we may record:
- the IP address the request came from, and the country it is registered in;
- the User-Agent string (which identifies the browser or software used, such as "Chrome on Windows");
- the network the request came from — the network operator's name, its autonomous system number, and whether it belongs to a hosting or data-centre provider;
- the pages requested, and when;
- the rate of requests (for example how many arrived in a single minute or hour), and whether the same source has been seen repeatedly;
- whether the source has been independently verified as a genuine search engine crawler, using Google's and Bing's own published crawler IP ranges.
Our lawful basis for this is our legitimate interests in keeping the website secure, available and free from abuse. We have balanced those interests against your rights, and we collect no more than is needed for this purpose.
This monitoring is observation only. We do not use it to block, throttle, challenge, redirect or exclude anyone, and it is never used for advertising or profiling, or sold or shared for marketing.
Retention: raw IP addresses are deleted automatically 30 days after they are first recorded. After that, only non-identifying aggregate statistics remain — the country, network operator and hosting provider, request counts and rates, and the automation classification — which cannot be used to identify an individual or single out a particular connection.
Access: this information is stored securely on our servers and is accessible only to authorised administrators. It is never displayed on any public page and is never sent to visitors' browsers.
Payments
Card and instalment payments are processed by Stripe and its payment partners. Your card details are entered directly with the payment provider and are never seen or stored by us. We receive only a confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the payment method type.
Emails and messages
Quotations, booking confirmations, reminders and receipts are sent to you by email using our email service provider. We send service messages about work you have asked us to quote for or carry out, and occasional follow-ups about your quote. Every marketing email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects the service messages about a booking you have with us.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only where it is necessary:
- with the decorators and staff carrying out or arranging your work;
- with service providers who run parts of our operation on our behalf — payment processing, email delivery, website hosting;
- with our professional advisers where required, or with law enforcement or a regulator where we are legally obliged to do so.
We never sell your personal information. Some of our service providers operate outside the UK; where that happens, transfers are protected by the UK's international data transfer safeguards, such as the UK IDTA or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep information
- Quote enquiries that do not become bookings: kept for up to 3 years so we can pick up where you left off.
- Bookings, invoices and payment records: kept for 6 years after the end of the relevant tax year, as required by law.
- Website analytics: retained in aggregate form and used only for reporting.
- Security and abuse monitoring: raw IP addresses deleted after 30 days; aggregate statistics kept for as long as needed to understand traffic patterns.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete information we no longer have a good reason to keep;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it;
- receive information you gave us in a portable format, where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent.
Where we rely on our legitimate interests for security and abuse monitoring, you have the right to object. We will stop unless we can show compelling and overriding grounds that justify continuing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this notice and change the "last updated" date at the top. Where a change is significant, we will make it clear on the site.
